Reversing the Weekend Damage

January 12th, 2009 | Comments | Posted in Melissa |

I am officially in my thirties. I started age thirty off with a lack of sleep, hungover, and bad food. I stayed up WAY too late and drank WAY too much, then had “hangover munchies” all day on Sunday. The damage? This morning when I stepped on the scale, I was up SIX pounds since Friday morning. Not one or two, but SIX POUNDS. Who does that? And to think I had been so excited for the weigh-in this coming Wednesday. I had been doing so well.

There is nothing I can do but brush it off and start eating well right away again. I will be drinking lots and lots of water today to flush the pounds of extra salt out of my system! Justin and I braved the blizzardy weather (even the buses weren’t running!) and went to the gym this morning. I hopped on the Precor AMT and entered -you guessed it- age THIRTY and huffed and puffed my way through the workout, then took my tired old body and forced it to do the free weights. Here’s a tip:  When you are bench-pressing and think you just cannot push it up even ONE more time, meanwhile your husband is telling you, “One more, one more, PUSH” and you really think you can’t, just get SUPER pissed and push hard while you are telling him to screw off. It works. I would know.

Have you entered our giveaway yet? Contest ends Wednesday!!

You get right back on track girl!
    I just know it!
  • I find anger fuels my workouts very effectively, too. I can't work out to bouncy music ~ it has to be hard, grinding, angry music. And the angrier I feel, the harder I push and the longer I go!

    Welcome to your 30's!
  • Welcome to 30! Sounds like you rang in your new decade in, um, STYLE! Yeah, style!

Remember last week when I weiged-in 6.8 pounds up? Yeah, it does happen. Drinking lots of water will help. More than half of that weight is probably water weight. It will come off quick, don't worry.

I'm so proud of you and the hubby for huffing it to the gym. I think it's great that he's such a *cough* wonderful motivator!!
