I have had the best week.

I had a less-than-stellar week.

Husband was home for the first time in a month.

NFL Playoffs.

Yes, these are excuses.

I weighed in at 218.8 lbs, which is down 1.2 from last week.

Kickoff for Team in Training is Sunday.

I am ready.

True Confessions of Melissa

I have a feeling this is not going to be very pretty, folks.

I was doing alright… and then Saturday came. My husband (who hasn’t been home in a month!) got to come home from work for a few days and he does the cooking (woot!) when he is home.

Saturday night:  homemade pizza. Sure, he makes me my own special portion of pizza loaded with onions, portabella mushrooms, and green peppers, but there is still the crust and the cheese!

Sunday:  Playoff day. Not good. Homemade subs. Popcorn (with butter). Candy. You get the picture.

And then, to top it all off, I had a Drumstick last night. Not chicken, the awful(ly yummy) ice cream variety.

On the plus side… he and I played racquetball at the gym yesterday. Wonderful exercise. I came away with a contact-injury again.

I signed up for FitBloggin… now I just need to figure out a way to get to Baltimore!!

Monday Project – Why I Rock.

This week’s Monday Project is to think of five reasons why we kick ass. I can think of about 10 million and one things about myself that I want to change, but of course, like most people, struggle with the positive side of things.

So, TA-DA! Five reasons why I rock…

#1 – I’m fun. I am a complete and total dork and I know it. I like to laugh!

#2 – I completed a 1/2 marathon and now I’m doing another one. Did I mention all the money I am raising for charity? That rocks.

#3 – I run a household with 4 (for the most part) happy children while my husband is gone for weeks and weeks at a time.

#4 – I have an adventurous, restless spirit. Some people may not think this is a good thing, but I do. I love to experience new things and want to teach my children to dream big and never settle.

#5 – It’s a toss-up between this (thanks for the idea, Christy!):

Lissa’s POM-Banana-Strawberry Smoothie

I love smoothies. Not the gross, made-from-powder kind… only the varieties where you add in fresh fruit. I thought I would share my latest creation with you all. For you mamas in the group, this recipe comes with thumbs up from all four kids in my household!

One Serving:

1/2 cup Dannon Light n’ Fit Vanilla Yogurt
5 whole strawberries (I use Schwan’s frozen)
1 banana
2 oz. POM Wonderful 100% Pomegranante Juice

Blend and VOILA! Delicious! So easy to make! You can add a few ice cubes in to make it colder, I personally don’t like them.

Calories:  250  Fat:  1 gram

I was first introduced to Action Against Hunger and their work back in August when I participated in Weight Watcher’s Lose for Good campaign. My eyes were opened to the issue of extreme hunger that is affecting so many millions of people throughout the world. The numbers will surely be rising after the devastating earthquake in Haiti last week.

Action Against Hunger has named a finalist by Project 7 to receive $15,000. This funding would help them treat 75 severely malnourished children in the in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. They are working against time to save the children, as they are literally on the brink of starvation there.Treating these children is not simply a matter of feeding them normal foods. Because their bodily functions are shutting down, they need special nutritional therapy and around-the-clock care.

Weigh-In Wednesday::January 13

Okay, I did it. You may have seen my tweets where I was afraid to step on the scale this morning. When I got on the scale earlier this week, it was UGLY. Downright hideous. I chug-chug-CHUGGED water last night. So much, in fact, that I woke up THREE times to groggily make my way to take a piss.

I weighed-in at 220.6 lbs this morning. That is a gain of 0.4 from last Wednesday. I’ll take it, because it could have been so much worse.

My head was barely in the game this week. I think I may be getting overwhelmed at HOW FAR I need to go. I have the tools, I have the support, I just need to utilize these and make the changes. Like Thea said last week, I need to break it down into smaller goals and maybe I won’t get so completely overwhelmed by the fact that I want to lose 55 pounds!

It’s a new day. A GOOD DAY. I have my workout clothes on, the car started, a load of laundry washing (I just had to throw that in there) and I am shutting down the computer, lacing up my shoes, and getting my ass to the gym. STAT.

Really? Another week has passed??

I have a horrible case of the grumpies today. Although, the sun did finally shine today. I laid on my chaise lounge in front of the window and took a nap in the sunlight. That was fabulous.

My appetite is FEROCIOUS. Help.Me.

I am feeling so restless. Restless as in, I really need to get the hell out of here and have an adventure. Sigh.

My workouts consisted of two EAS Active More Workouts sessions.

On the positive note, I have been eating a lot more veggies and organic than I used to. Still eating crap, too, though.

Considering weigh-in is tomorrow, I think I will be downing the water by gallons starting NOW.
